Osteomyelitis is a deadly bone infection, which is uncommon but not rare. This infection affects both children and adults alike. The infection in children is more threatening but gets treated easily when diagnosed. I have treated many cases of osteomyelitis in my bone & joint clinic at Noida.

How does it occur?
The patient can catch this infection by

- People with diabetes and a recent injury are more prone
- People with the diseases which decrease the immune system efficiency like HIV, RA, Alcoholism are also prone to Osteomyelitis.
What are the symptoms of Osteomyelitis?
The symptoms of Osteomyelitis are as follows:
- Fever and fatigue
- Pain in the bone
- Swelling, redness and warmth around the infected bone
- Abscess formation
- Pus discharge from the wound
How osteomyelitis is treated?
- If the patient comes in the early stage, then the most effective treatment is antibiotics. Patient responds fast to them in the earlier stages.
- If the damage to the bone has been done, then the bone is curated and the infected material is removed and healing is enhanced.
- The surgical options are many, but in spite of being an orthopedic surgeon in noida, I prefer the conservative treatment first and keep the surgery as the last option.
